Crabbing Charters

Crabbing Trips are another great way to spend time with friends and family!

Typically crabs are caught from mid July to October 31st and are harvested using a 1200 foot trotline. Crabs are dipped or netted by your friends and family from the trotline, creating a memorable and lasting experience.

Crabbing trips aboard The Marylander are great for all ages, family, and friends! They are another great way to spend a day on the Chesapeake Bay!

A maximum of two bushel may be kept per trip for a Crabbing Charter Harvest.

  • Note: Trip times vary seasonally due to changes from Sunrise to Sunset. Please also call at least 48 hours in advance to booking your Crabbing Trip. These trips take extra preparation prior to your voyage on the Chesapeake Bay. 

During your charter, Maryland Blue Crabs are harvested by our anglers using locally made dip nets on a 1200 foot trotline. As the Chesapeake Bay Blue Crabs emerge from the depths its your task to catch these Maryland favorites!

Summer & Fall Trip Times: July 16th- October 31st

  • Morning: 5:45 am-11:45 am
  • Afternoon: 1:00 pm- 7:00 pm

Rate & Gratuity: August 17th- October 31st  

Rate: Base price of $900 per trip for 6 anglers or less on board. Any additional angler is $150 per person with a maximum of 18 total anglers on board. Plus gratuity for your Mate.

Gratuity for the Mate is appreciated, as he works hard for you before and after your trip. Customary gratuity is 20-25% of the trip cost. Our Mates look forward to seeing you again on your next voyage!

Crabbing on the Chesapeake Bay is a great way to spend a day with friends and family. Peak season for Crabbing on the Chesapeake Bay is from Mid July until October 31st. As the season transitions from Summer to Fall, Blue Crabs begin to prepare for Winter. Traditionally they are the largest and the heaviest during this time period.

Steaming

Crabs can be steamed after your trip upon request! We do require advance notice during your reservation process in order to prepare materials for the steaming process. We also need advance notice in order to plan to allocate time for steaming after your voyage with us. All crabs are steamed by Kentmorr Restaurant. Our anglers have the unique opportunity of dining on their days catch at one of the best restaurants on the Chesapeake Bay!

Note: We will supply all applicable fishing licenses, tackle, nets, and bait for our anglers.

Deposits & Trip Cancellations

  • A mandatory deposit of 50% of the total trip cost is due when booking.
  • Deposits are due within 7 days of verbal confirmation.
  • We require 30 days prior notice for cancellations. Cancellations within 30 days of the reserved trip forfeit the deposit amount of 50% of the total trip cost. Cancellations within 14 days of the reserved trip are charged the full amount of the reservation.
  • We accept Cash, Check, Visa, Master Card, Discover, & Venmo!
  • We charge an additional 4% for all credit card transactions.

Inclement Weather

Your safety, the safety of the crew, and the vessel are of the highest priority when booking a trip aboard The Marylander. Inclement weather may cause your trip to be canceled by the Captain before your trip. In this case a full refund will be awarded or your trip may be rescheduled for an available date.
